Aloud

I've got a stack of things I mean to read and never get to. Reading takes hands and eyes; my commute doesn't. Aloud turns any of it into audio, read in a voice that doesn't sound like a robot — all on the phone.

Swift · SwiftUI · on-device AI · In build · App Store soon

Aloud is for the backlog you’ll never sit down and read.

Articles, PDFs, the feeds you follow — point Aloud at them and they come back as audio, in a voice that doesn’t make your skin crawl. The whole thing runs on the phone: the text-to-speech is on-device, so nothing you read gets shipped off to someone’s server to be logged.

That last part isn’t a feature so much as the reason it exists. Private by construction beats private by promise. Your reading list is nobody’s business but yours, and Aloud is built so it stays that way even if I wanted it otherwise.
